The Holidays are fast approaching and many of us are searching for the perfect gifts for our loved ones. Lucky for us St. Augustinians there are plenty of local options for gift buyers right here in town. Just some of the beauties of shopping local are that you will be supporting local families and your gifts are sure to be unique and personal. I’ve rounded up some of the greatest local options to help you check off everyone on your list this year.


For the children on your list, the best shopping spot in town has to be Olde Towne Toys, located at 300 S Ponce De Leon Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32084. There you’ll find the most unique assortment of toys for kids from zero into the teens. They carry lots of well-known brands, including Hape, Playmobil, Melissa and Doug, Lego, and Jellycat. They also have everything from science kits and musical instruments to action figures and dolls. The staff is friendly and helpful and you’ll find lots more than at your average big-box store.

For the adults on your list, you can find something for absolutely everyone at The Coconut Barrel, St. Augustine’s brand new Artisan Market, located at 3175 US 1 South, Unit 3, St. Augustine, Florida 32086. The Coconut Barrel has a unique selection of handcrafted products made by local artists. You’ll find everything there including handmade jewelry, home décor, macramé, clothing, artwork, and ceramics. Their selection of vendors varies and there are always new and exciting products. If you haven’t been to the Coconut Barrel yet, you’re in for a treat.

The Gamer

Have a gamer on your list? Press Play Media, located at 1966, US Highway 1 South, St. Augustine, Florida 32086, carries both new and retro systems. They have a wide range of games and accessories and carry new and pre-owned products to buy, sell and trade. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you’ll a much wider range of games than at your average gaming store. For classic gamers, you’ll find favorites such as Atari, Sega, and Dreamcast.

The Beach Bum

For anyone with a surfer or beach bum on their list, there are multiple great options in town. Pit Surf Shop, located at 18 A Street, St. Augustine Beach, Florida 32080 and Surf Station, located at 1020 Anastasia Boulevard, St. Augustine, Florida 32080 are each locally owned and operated.

Pit Surf Shop has all the well-known brands such as Fox, Rip Curl, Costa, and Billabong just to name a few of their selection. And they have everything in the store from new and used surfboards, paddleboards, and skateboards to apparel, swimwear, sunglasses, beach towels, and other beach accessories. They even have their own line of Pit Surf Shop apparel and accessories. In addition, Pit Surf Shop provides equipment rentals and offers surf lesson packages (ranging from one-on-one instruction to small group instruction) which would make a gnarly gift for your grom or gromette. Surf Station has been the place in St. Augustine for surf supplies since the 80s. It too carries all the major brands in surf and skate and has every supply needed for surfing, skateboarding, SUP, and bodyboarding. It offers equipment rental as well as sales and has a range of lessons for purchase. Surf Station offers kids surf camps throughout May-August which are now signing up and would make an excellent gift for any surfing enthusiast. The Fashionista

If you’re looking for all things unique and on-trend check out Declaration & Co., located in Uptown St. Augustine, at 63 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida 32084, and Linen and Waves, located on Anastasia Island, at 1020 Anastasia Boulevard, St. Augustine Beach, Florida 32080.

Declaration & Co. carries perhaps the cutest collection of women’s fashion I have ever seen. In addition to clothing, they are most loved for their gorgeous hand-lettered cards, prints, and gifts. You’ll also find a wide selection of jewelry, mugs, baby essentials, kitchenware, candles, and home décor. If I could, I would take home their entire inventory!

Linen and Waves is a brand new store on Anastasia Island. It too carries a unique selection of clothing and gifts. What I love most about Linen and Waves are their adorable mommy and me swimsuits, on-trend straw bags, and delicate jewelry. You are sure to find something unique and absolutely adorable for the fashionista on your list.
