holiday pub crawl

So I’ll get right to the point here.

This post isn’t about a magical night out with your kids. It’s not a DIY on how to build the perfect gingerbread house. There’s no guide on where to find the best Christmas lights in town. This post is for my mommas. The mommas who need a break away from their kids and all the holiday “cheer” that’s forced upon them. The mommas who just spent their only afternoon off waiting in line at the mall to spend 60 seconds with Santa while their kids screamed hysterically. For the mommas who can’t possibly bear one more episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Christmas special. For the mommas who need an excuse to put on the cute boots and red lipstick and just one night to feel like their former self while dancing and sipping cocktails.

This my friends is a mommas guide for hosting an epic pub crawl with a holiday twist! I’ve done all the research for you, so all you have to do is round up some friends and finalize a few details.

Step One: Pick a Theme

We went with “ugly Christmas sweaters” but make it unique to you and your group of friends! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Let’s get “elfed” up
  • Flannel and frost
  • Pajamas and pints
  • Santa’s and sips

Step Two: Pick Some Props

This is always a good idea! Not only does it make for good pictures but it brings a new level of fun to the group. Party city has lots of options to choose from! Headbands, light up glasses, hats, necklaces, cups, etc. I happened to stumble across this photo booth style prop that already had a tacky sweater theme, on Etsy. Also for a fun and easy option you could consider a custom Snap Chat filter for the occasion.

Step Three: Map Out Your Pub Crawl Destinations

We decided we were going to do a big circle so everyone would end up close to where we started. I took the guesswork out of this one for you and have listed all of our bar stops and the recommendations on drinks, shots, and appetizers.

Mojos Old City BBQ 6:00-7:30

  • Appetizers: Kansas City burnt ends & Mojos famous onion rings
  • Drinks: Old Fashioned & The Pain Killer
  • BONUS! They have a craft beer & whiskey shot special for $3

No Name Bar 7:30-8:30

  • Bacardi and Coke
  • Fire Ball shot

Meehan’s Irish Pub 8:30-9:30

  • The shark tank
  • The Meehan-a-rita

Prohibition Kitchen 9:30-11:00

  • Old Forester Bourbon
  • Vieux Carre (shot)

Dos Gatos 11:00-close

  • The New Zealander
  • The Jeffrey Shot

Step Four: Plan Ahead and Get a Babysitter for the Night

I was fortunate enough that my mom and her bestie offered to keep our two girls for the whole night so we didn’t have to worry about getting home at a certain time. So often when I go out I joke that at midnight I turn into a pumpkin and have to go home and be an adult. Give yourself an early Christmas present and take the night off. Enjoy good friends, good drinks and dance your little heart out. You deserve it!

Good Luck Mommas

May your drinks be strong & your holidays merry!
