We over here at the St. Augustine Moms, are obviously quite smitten with America’s Oldest City. Some of us have been here our whole lives, and some of us within the last year. And every time frame in between. There is a lot to experience in St. Augustine, and we wanted to share some of our favorite spots with you. With Small Business Saturday approaching this weekend, we are starting out by sharing our favorite small shops to stop in. Whether it’s this weekend or another, these stores have our hearts and our wallets and we wanted you to know about them.
Two Words: San Marco
This is the local place to shop and still be close to all that Old City offers without the hassle of as many tourists. Wanting to have a boutique experience while shopping for yourself or with your best friends, then you need to be on San Marc Avenue. Juniper Market (48 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084) is a must-stop in place to really get the feel for what it offers. Grab a bite or a coffee and see all the unique gifts and artwork they have showcased. It’s a beautiful little space that is becoming a local favorite hotspot for art shows and downtime away from the crowds that surround George Street this time of year.
Declaration and Co. (63 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084) is another great place to pick up some teacher and friends gifts. The boutique feel of this store will immediately make you fall for ALL THE THINGS in it!
For the Beach Babes In Your Life
We have everything a surfer, paddleboarder, boogieboarder, and beach bum could want on all our amazing beaches in St. Augustine. Chances are, you have one of these people on your shopping list. The Pit Surf Shop (18 A St, St Augustine, FL 32080) is a St. Augustinian staple place to pick up gear or even a gift card to get some lessons. They have great items for men, women, and kids and the customer service is outstanding to help you out if you know nothing about the above-mentioned sports.
Over on “the Island” you can find Surf Station (1020 Anastasia Blvd, St. Augustine, FL 32080). They have Girl Next Door (GND) that caters to everything your surfer girl needs desire or just a cute new suit, no paddleboard required. Another little tip is that these places also have some GREAT clothing that suits our Floridian lifestyle all year round. You can pick up a new shirt while getting someone else their Christmas Wish List must-haves.
Small Gifts All Year Round
Even outside of the holiday season we can always use a place to get that one, PERFECT gift for the one, REALLY TOUGH person to buy for. Whether it’s a housewarming gift, a teacher present, or even a just because gift, these next few places have you covered. The Pink Pineapple Boutique (168 State Road 312, Saint Augustine, FL 32086) has some great choices for you to grab a one of a kind present, and know that the receiver will love it. If you’ve never seen the Corkcicle line, they have a LARGE selection of it and any hostess would love to receive them. That’s a guarantee because even Oprah said it was one of her favorite things.
Market Street Boutique (389 Paseo Reyes Dr. Suite 203, St Augustine, FL 32095) carries a WIDE variety of items, and if you can make it out of that store without buying something for yourself, you are a shopping miracle. Market Street carries brands like Emily Ley, Kate Spade, and Lilly Pulitzer.
One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure
Y’all in case you haven’t been paying attention, thrifting has taken on a WHOLE new life in recent years. What better place to find some unique pieces, and antiques than in the oldest city? You can find some stuff with tags still on it. Some of these places give right back to our community and to those who may be needing it right now. Check out St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store (919 Mc Millan St, St. Augustine, FL 32084) or Alpha Omega (239 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084) for some great, thrift-giving items. If antiquing is more your speed and you are looking to channel your inner Joanna Gaines, Cool and Collected Vintage & Antiques (67 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084) is an awesome place to get you started. If you LOVE the thrill of the hunt, we have more than just these places to get you started and saving money on a few one-of-a-kind pieces.
Off the Beaten Path

The Avanti MedSpa is a pretty amazing place on “the Island” to get a gift card for a facial or pick up their organic skincare line by KalVera.
Looking to make your gift for someone REALLY special? Look no further than Pink Lemon Design and her amazing hand stamped jewelry and gifts. A really cool way to have a memory that is wearable and unique to the person you give it to.
The Coconut Barrel Artisan Market (3175 US 1 South, #3, St. Augustine, FL 32086) is another great location for finding unique gifts for everyone on your list. Most of the items you’ll find while walking the aisles are created and made by locals.
Looking for a book you may not find anywhere else? Anastasia Books (76A San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084) will probably have it. You may even spot some reads that take place in our city, especially when we are known as one of the most haunted, writers love this setting for a good thriller.
This post could REALLY keep going, we have a lot of love for our city and we happen to have a lot of small businesses that go with it. This city THRIVES on its small businesses and we hope you all can appreciate some of the ones we mentioned and support them.
